Kosher (Real Sugar) Coke!

3 Mar

Good times are here again!  In observance of Passover, Coca Cola is rolling out their Kosher Coke made with real sugar.  Lucky for the soda purists, corn happens to be one of the grains Jews refrain from in observance of Passover.  No corn, no high fructose corn syrup.

Produced only for 2-liter bottles, the company manufactures syrups and concentrates under rabinical supervision, with each independent bottler handing the certification.  Notice the yellow cap marked OU-P or the white cap stamped CRC-P.  The codes indicates certification by either the Orthodox Jewish Union or the Chicago Rabbinical Council.  Chances are, you’ll have to go on a bit of a hunt to find Kosher Coke as it’s made in limited batches, but people say it’s the closest available to the original recipe.

As a side note, Mexican Coke is made with cane sugar.  It comes in a glass bottle and will have a large white sticker around the neck.  Found mainly in Hispanic markets, it’s available year round.  In the LA area, it can purchased at Jon’s, Super King and Home Depot.

For anyone with a Wegman’s nearby, check the international section. Mine recently put in a small cooler for international sodas and right at the bottom is Coke imported from Mexico!

Oh my!  Real sugar Coke!  The only time I have ever had Real Sugar Coke was in Aruba last year, and it was so delicious!  I’m so excited – I have to find this in Chicago!

Coke has been a very big part in everybody’s life ever since in the world of giving satisfactions in our thirst.
They can be as vintage already as the others think it lasts for so long.

    Aimee,

Some of the Wegman’s carry full 24 bottle cases of the Mexican Coca Cola in the Mexican foods aisle.  I know of two that do in the Buffalo, NY area (the Wegman’s on Sheridan Drive in Williamsville and the Wegman’s on Niagara Falls Blvd. (at the corner of North French) in Tonawanda.  Both stores carry the cases for $26.99/case.  A bit pricey but in my opinion well worth the cost for that “real” Coke taste!

i found kosher coca cola in my local ralph’s grocery. i was surprised to see it there since my area doesnt have a very large jewish population.

I can taste the difference immediately, its not as sweet(good thing) and has different bubbles(also a good thing)

one thing to note is that the label on the ones I got say sucrose is used, and not actual cane sugar(sucrose is usually extracted from beets i believe)
